Abstract

Known models for calculating heat transfer processes during glow discharge heating assume that the distribution of the heating energy input supplied to the cathode surface from the glow discharge is uniform. In this paper it is shown that, if particular parts of the cathode have different temperatures, the heat input distribution will also be non-uniform. A method of calculation which accounts for the effect of heating non-uniformity is described and an example of its application is discussed.
