Abstract

NiAl was successfully coated on stainless steel 304 prepared by mechanical milling. The corrosion resistance of coated substrates were examined using an immersion test in solar salt composed of a mixture NaNO3 and KNO3 with a weight ratio of 60:40. Prior to the immersion test, the coated substrate was annealed at 650 °C for 1 h in air condition. The results showed that mechanical milling time was proportional to the thickness of the coating layer. Phase analysis indicated the formation of Al2O3, which was also confirmed by elemental analysis using energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS).
