Insulin-like growth factor (IGF)-1 signaling has multiple physiological roles in cellular growth, metabolism, and aging. Myocardial hypertrophy, cell death, senescence, fibrosis, and electrical remodeling are hallmarks of various heart disease and contributes to the progression of heart failure.
