Abstract

Evaluation of exhaust emission gas on vehicular road traffic, has been depending mostly on the concept of taking summation of the amount of exhaust emission per kilometer multiplied by vehicle kilometers. This paper deals with the possibility of estimating the effect of several types of traffic control strategies, like signal control, ramp metering, dynamic routing, and so on, on the amount of emission gas, particularly in the urban crowded road traffic conditions. A new conceptual method of estimating the amount of carbon dioxide emissions is introduced, which might be applied to traffic network simulation model.
