Abstract
NDNF selectively labels neurogliaform inhibitory interneurons of layer 1. In this issue of Neuron, Cohen-Kashi Malina etal. (2021) show that NDNF activity is highly correlated with arousal level. During high arousal state, NDNF inhibits the dendrites while disinhibiting the soma of nearby pyramidal neurons.
