Abstract

Metal corrosion monitoring is essential from an economic, technical, aesthetically, and environmental standpoint. The preferred choice for securing metals and alloys from corrosive environments is by using inhibitors. Since organic corrosion blockers are detrimental to the environment, green inhibitors that are biodegradable and free of heavy metals, as well as other toxic compounds, are thus promoted. Because the natural properties of these green inhibitors like all are a high source of ingredients with high inhibition efficiency, as they are easily available, environmentally acceptable, are some main reasons that oblige researchers to pay more attention to this concept. This review article covers the work published on natural gums that act as a corrosion inhibitor and computational chemistry tools used to understand the mechanism of inhibition gums extract components.
