Abstract

We report experimental results of photoluminescence (PL) enhancement in 2D photonic crystals nanoimprinted in functionalized poly-methyl methacrylate (PMMA) based polymer in which (CdSe)ZnS core-shell luminescent nanocrystals (NCs) have been incorporated. Comparing the out of plane emission of the NCs in nanopatterned and flat surfaces, the PL emission intensity increased by 240% from the area in which 2D PhCs are imprinted. This enhancement results from the coupling to the leaky modes above the light line of the PhCs band structure.
