Abstract
Abstract An interesting Ba(II) complex with a tetrapyridyl pendant-armed azamacrocyclic is reported. The X-ray crystal structure shows the metal ion coordinated by the 10 nitrogen donor atoms from the ligand, six of them from the macrocyclic framework and the remaining four nitrogen atoms from the pyridinic pendant-arms. The coordination geometry around the metal can be considered as a distorted bicapped cube. To the best of our knowledge, only two N10-coordinated Ba(II) complexes have been previously reported, and only one of them is a macrocyclic Ba(II) complex.
