Abstract

We proposed a new kind of distributed feedback (DFB) laser based on sampled grating with non-central phase shift. The output facet of the laser is coated with antireflection (AR) film. Another facet is coated with high-reflection (HR) film to improve output power. Non-central phase shift is introduced for better single longitudinal mode (SLM) operation. Precise wavelength is achieved by changing sampling periods. A 16-channel DFB laser array is experimentally fabricated and shows high output power over 150 mW, high side mode suppression ratio (SMSR) above 45 dB, and low wavelength deviation less than 0.3 nm.
