Abstract

AbstractCharge densities at 40K+ in KF, KCl, and KBr lattices are calculated from Hartree‐Fock wavefunctions including the effect of overlap of core orbitals with the neighboring atoms. From the calculation of KF and KCl and the experimental measurements of Mössbauer centre of gravity shifts we estimate the relative change in nuclear charge radius upon emission of 29.4 keV γ‐radiation to be in the limits of −6 × 10−4 ≦δ<r2>/<r2> ≦ 31 × 10−4.
