Abstract

Montana has prioritized increasing K-12 funding, creating new school quality rules, and a new pilot for student testing as their priorities for this fiscal year. Additionally, the state has increased their funding for higher education by 4%, and two bills, HB203 and HB562, were passed that support school choice. Per-pupil expenditure has increased by 2.7% for FY2024. Montana operates on a biennium, and roughly 16.13% of the total budget is spent on education in FY2024.
