Abstract

The protonation products of trans-dioxotetracyanomolybdates(IV) of type Me 3[MoO(OH)(CN) 4] xH 2O and Me 6[Mo 2O 3(CN) 8] xH 2O (where Me Na, K) have been prepared and characterized by means of spectroscopic and other physical methods. IR and Raman spectra of solids and the Raman spectra of aqueous Na 3[MoO(OH)-(CN) 4] have been carefully studied. Assignment of the fundamental vibrations in monomeric and dimeric species are suggested and a discussion of the discrepencies with literature data is given.
