Abstract

In 2009 Mongolia peacefully elected its first president from the Democratic Party. It was also a very lucky year for investors, who saw the signing of a historic agreement to develop the copper-gold mine Oyu Tolgoi. With China and Russia beginning to play vital roles in their neighbor's development, Mongolia may soon need to review its landlocked status to redefine itself as a land-linked country.
