Abstract
In the scientific article, the essence of the concept of gender and the history of its creation were clarified. Then the contents of gender identity, gender stereotypes, gender role and other values were revealed. The importance of gender education, which can be a positive force in creating gender equality in society, was emphasized. The necessity of preparing future teachers for gender education in schoolchildren during their studies at the university and developing the gender competence of teachers as a part of this preparation was shown. Directions for the formation of gender-related values in schoolchildren are indicated.
