Abstract

We have studied the astrophysically important 2H( α, γ) 6Li, 3H(α, γ) 7Li, and 3He(α, γ) 7Be reaction in the framework of a microscopic potential model. Our capture cross sections reproduce the experimental data at low energies in all three cases. While for the 2H(α, γ) 6Li and 3He(α, γ) 7Be reactions our results support the astrophysical conclusions based on the currently accepted reaction rates, we predict for the 3H(α, γ) 7Li reaction a thermally averaged reaction rate which is higher at temperatures T = (1−10) × 10 8K than presently recommended.
