Microbead array based technology for detection and quantitation of viral respiratory pathogens associated with pneumonia among children

Abstract

Background: Viruses play an important role in causing respiratory infections in children worldwide. The burden of viruses in respiratory infections among children in Pakistan is unknown, largely due to absence of good quality diagnostic facilities. Common viruses associated with respiratory infections included respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), influenza A/B, along with novel viruses like human metapneumovirus, human coronavirus NL63 and HKU1, and human bocavirus, which have the potential to cause pandemics.
