Abstract
The aim of this research was to discuss and analyze various methods of assessment of leader’s personal characteristics and leadership style. In fact, there are various methods that can be used to assess personal qualities and psychological characteristics of a leader. This research focused mainly on the methods developed by distinguished American scientists such as Margaret Herman, James David Barber and David A. Winter. The research revealed that it is quite possible to obtain information about leader’s personal qualities and psychological characteristics even without meeting him or her. Marguerite Herman developed a method of assessing the personality traits of leaders which is known as Personality Assessment-at-a-Distance. This method allows us to evaluate leader’s personal qualities and psychological characteristics distantly by analyzing his or her speeches and conversations.
