Abstract

The paper investigates methods of information quantity estimation to assess the degree of satisfaction of user›s information needs when working with a multisubject GIS. Syntactic, semantic and pragmatic approaches to assessing the quantity and usefulness of information are considered. The results of comparing and evaluating the applicability of different approaches and methods for satisfying the user›s information needs are presented.
