Abstract

Strong earthquakes (M>5.0) recorded from 2020 to 2021 within the Baikal rift zone were studied. The «background» time intervals of the current period when tangible earthquakes were not observed are highlighted. Seismogravitational fluctuations in temperature and pressure were recorded. It was found that before the studied earthquakes harmonics with a period of 92-96 hours appear in the spectrum of temperature fluctuations at the isobaric level of 300 hPa. Such harmonics are absent in the corresponding background temperature series. The fact of the appearance of new harmonics can be used as a sign of an imminent earthquake in the Baikal region. As a result, a method for estimating atmospheric effects during strong earthquakes is proposed.
