Abstract

This paper aims to discuss the relation between the methaphorical and non-metaphorical sens of language in the scope of some modern theories of Cognitive Linguistics. It will be provided some theoretical contributions regarding the theory of Mental Spaces (Fauconnier) and the theory of Conceptual Blending (Fauconnier and turner). These cognitive models of treatment of language will be applied to some written texts of media in order to show that the limit between metaphor and non-metaphor requires a focus on the context. Depending on the context, some frames and other basic elements of Cognitive Linguistics emerge and these are related to the interpretation operated by the users of language.
