Abstract

1. The results of this investigation provide a suitable basis for the production of self-lubricating metal-plastics materials from nonspherical powders. 2. To obtain high-porosity materials of better quality, higher degree of pore filling, and greater strength, a volatile filler should be employed as a charge component. 3. The optimum porosity, 40–60%, can be ensured by using powders of > 60μ particle size. 4. To enable a friction pair to operate under any given conditions, the material of the porous skeleton and the composition of the solid lubricant must be suitably selected.
