Abstract

In this study, examining the relationship between nurses’ “traits and professional incentives” and “organizational commitment levels’’ was aimed. The study has been conducted from October to November 2011, on the nurses in three public hospitals in Ankara. Without sampling, 323 (65%) questionnaires returned from the 500 given out. Organizational Commitment Questionnaire Scale developed by Meyer and Allen (1991) to analyze the nurses organizational commitment level and Rewards and Promotion Scale developed by Miller (1967) to define their opinions about professional incentives were used. Having examining the factors effecting the nurses’ organizational commitments with the multivariate regression analysis; marital status, whether to have a managerial position, tenure and whether the hospital they work is an educational hospital don’t have a meaningful effect on nurses’ organizational commitments (p>0.05), and professional incentives have a meaningful effect on emotional commitment and normative commitment (p
