Dr Antonia Simon, associate professor and Lynn Ang, professor of Early Childhood Education, Pro-Director and Vice-Dean Research at UCL Institute of Education, discuss the fall in the number of childminders. They outline how this group of early years educators is an important part of meeting future demand for places in the sector, given the Government's offer of ‘free’ education and care for children of working parents.
