Introduction

Today special attention to improving access to early childhood care and education programs and producing high-quality educational experiences for children continues to grow throughout the world. Cortázar's (2015) study assessed the impact of early childhood education programs in Chile with the national Education Quality Measurement System (SIMCE). Today special attention to improving access to early childhood care and education programs and producing high-quality educational experiences for children continues to grow throughout the world. One reason is the knowledge of early childhood educators on what children need for future academic success in a play-based and child-centered program and not present in an early childhood program led by teachers and worksheets. One of the most extensive studies takes place in Washington, DC, D.C. over the past 5 years finding children in academic-oriented classes decreased in skills over the few years to end up substantially behind their peers, and Kathy (2016) found a cause for this, namely child-centered (play based); teacher centered (direct academic instruction such as memorization and worksheets); and combination. But decline by 22% in the relative skill level in elementary grades
