Abstract
Seit Jahrzehnten, besonders intensiv jedoch seit Verabschiedung der “Konvention zum Schutz der Biologischen Vielfalt” in Rio (1992), werden Meeresgebiete unter Schutz gestellt oder Moglichkeiten, Art und Umfang der Unterschutzstellung diskutiert. Im Rahmen der beiden fur die deutschen Meeresgebiete gultigen Meeresnatur- und-umweltschutz-Konventionen von Helsinki und Oslo-Paris wurden ebenfalls die Weichen zur Einrichtung mariner Schutzgebiete gestellt.
