Abstract

The aim of the review paper is to analyse the properties of natural fibers in the natural fiber reinforced concrete. Fibers are used to increase their tensile, compressive and flexural strength in fiber reinforced concrete. Fibers in the concrete can control the happening of shrinkage cracks in it. This review paper focuses on identifying the alternative natural fibers to the artificial fibers. This paper analyses the optimum aspect ratio and optimum fiber volume in the natural fiber reinforced concrete by over viewing the mechanical properties such as compressive strength, flexural strength and split tensile strength. The inclusion of fibers can reduce the total amount of reinforcement used in the reinforced concrete. A literature review of approximately 15,000 papers published in the journals recognized by Scopus and Elsevier between 2021 and 1990 is focused on the natural fiber reinforced concrete.
