Abstract

This paper presents the impact of roundness measurement with the same type of styli with varying length in a probe by scanning the diameter of a bearing in CMM. Experiments with two different length probes were performed to measure the roundness values in ball bearing and the results are evaluated. Many precision equipment and devices critically depend upon the rotation that engages in engineering activities have radial symmetry as a significant factor. From the experimental results, it is found that the length of the probe has a significant effect during the measurement. As there is an occurrence of bending in the longer probes it consequently increases the roundness error while taking measurements.
