Abstract

Reconstruction from a finite set of projection data is known to be a highly underdetermined and ill-posed inversion problem. An application of the maximum entropy (ME) approach to this problem is considered here. The sense in which a ME solution can be regarded as an optimum estimator is analysed. Numerical examples of a two-dimensional reconstruction of test models chosen to simulate typical situations in diagnostic experiments are given.
