Abstract

The purpose of this article is to examine the content of the four collects in which the Mother of God is called by the title of the “Mother or Queen of Mercy”. Every prayer – more or less evidently – refers to the virtue of Mercy. However, Mercy is an attribute of God. For this reason it is important to discover the dynamic that allows this divine characteristic to be attributed to Mary. Finally, the way in which the Holy Virgin refers us to God – the only source of Mercy – will be presented through the similarities and differences between them.
