Massless flywheel

Abstract

Analytical synthesis of the artifi cial moment of inertia and establish the parameters that determine it have been carried out. The artifi cial inertia device may include an electrical capacitor and an electromechanical converter, such as a DC machine. The main advantages of an artifi cial fl ywheel over a "natural" one are incomparably lower mass and the possibility of electrically controlling the moment of inertia over a wide range by changing the magnetic field (excitation) and capacitance, which creates a good prospect for its use in automatic control systems.
