Abstract

A method has been developed for greatly improving the mass measurement accuracy of ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometers. By using a trapped ion analyzer cell and frequency sweep mode of operation, good mass measurement accuracy can be attained even with rather broad, low resolution peaks. The factors which limit the mass measurement accuracy of the spectrometer are discussed and improved methods of operation are suggested.
