Abstract
Marie Vauthier is an anarchist, the only woman from Aosta Valley who took part in the Spanish civil war. Born in a small mountain village, she soon emigrated to France, first to Paris and then to Toulouse, where she came into contact with anarchist and anti-fascist ideas. It was in Toulouse that she was part of a transnational anarchist network. She devoted herself intensively to political engagement and always showed great solidarity. Disappointed by defeat in the war, she shut herself away in solitude, in a world that did not belong to her.
