Abstract

Subcutaneous Emphysema is usually a benign, self-limiting condition that has various causes. It can be quite distressing due to the facial swelling associated with it. If associated with pneumothorax, it can be effectively managed by large bore chest drain with or without suction. Though subcutaneous incisions and subcutaneous drains have been used to treat it, most patients improve with chest drain and suction. We present a case report of Surgical emphysema that was successfully managed and review the relevant literature.
