Abstract

Born in 1918, Mahieddine Boutaleb is going to develop his artistic skills in Algiers where he studies miniature in the famous Muslim manuscript school directed by the Racim brothers in the early 1940. For thirty years after World War II, the Sèvres manufacture provides the talented ceramist with the opportunity to create new and personal decorations. His vibrant work of art successfully blends the Arabic and Muslim style he was taught in Algeria with the Sèvres tradition, notably with the use of high temperature fire which gives a great richness to his compositions.
