Abstract

The realization of the magnetocaloric effect application of magnetic materials with the potential to increase energy efficiency for magnetic refrigeration could be an effective alternative to harmful gas-vapor compressors. In this article, we overview some of the current materials that demonstrate excellent MCE efficiency making them desirable in magnetic refrigeration technology at low and room temperature. The literature focuses on magnetic entropy change, adiabatic temperature, Curie temperature, and refrigerant capacity, which are the main functional properties of magnetocaloric materials. Also, some of the techniques used to enhance magnetocaloric properties are discussed.
