Abstract
The magnetocaloric property and magnetoresistance (MR) of Gd46Co19Al29B6 metallic glass (MG) showing a ferromagnetic-paramagnetic transition have been investigated. Critical exponents β and γ using Kouvel-Fisher method are determined to be 0.512 and 1.281, respectively. The maximum magnetic entropy change (−ΔSm) and adiabatic temperature change (ΔT) can reach 8.7 J/kgK and 3.8 K under a field change of 5 T, respectively. Negative magnetoresistance (MR = R(H)/R(0) − 1) is observed between 50 and 150 K, which presents a maximum of 0.5% around the Curie temperature. Both the maximum −ΔSm and ΔT are found to have a novel power-law (linear) relationship with the MR above (below) the Curie temperature.
