Abstract

Structure, magnetic and microwave dielectric properties of polycrystalline Zn2-Y hexagonal ferrites Ba2−xSrxZn2Fe12O22 (x = 0.0–1.5) samples obtained by solid state reaction method were investigated as function of Sr substitution. XRD analysis reveals that the samples are crystallized into rhombohedral structure with space group R3m. Sr substitution significantly affects the magnetic and microwave dielectric properties of Ba2−xSrxZn2Fe12O22 ceramic samples. From M-H curves measured at 10 K, it is observed that the saturation magnetization decreased from 85.89 to 66.6 emu/g, while the coercive field increased from 6.16 to 34 Oe as x value increase from 0 to 1.5. Magnetic transition temperature reduced from 382 to 314 K with increase in x value. The variation of dielectric constant and dielectric loss shows same trend with increasing x value. The dielectric constant at 12 GHz increased from 18.2 to 23.4 and the dielectric loss increased from 0.081 to 0.10 as x increased from 0.0 to 1.5.
