Abstract
Background: Nursing is a life sustaining profession for the health of community. Nursing students, generally between the age group of 17 and to 22 years, come in the category of adolescent and young adults. Nutritional status is affected by nutritional knowledge and habits. Aim: To determine Nutrition knowledge, attitude and practice among undergraduates of Nursing 1st year students from KLE Institute of Nursing college Belagavi. Methods: A cross-sectional study on assessment of nutritional knowledge, Attitude, and practice among first year nursing students from KLE institute of nursing collage Belagavi. The information on nutritional knowledge, attitude, and practice with demographic profile was collected using questionnaire. Both male and female students are participated in the study, informed consent was taken from the participants. Data was analyzed using chi square test. Results: Among 93 of nursing first year students, majority were females 60(65.2%). Students have average nutrition knowledge 41(44.6%) I.e. >Mean – SD to Mean + SD and almost students have same practice and attitude towards nutrition is also average 72(78.3%) >Mean – SD to Mean + SD. Conclusion: The present study concluded that most of the first-year nursing students from Institute of nursing college Belagavi had an average nutrition knowledge and all of them had same practices towards Nutrition & their attitude was average towards the same.
