Abstract

The production of ${\mathrm{O}}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ and ${\mathrm{O}}_{2}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ by dissociative electron attachment to ozone is reported for incident electron energies between 0 and 10 eV. A previously unobserved sharp structure is observed in the formation of ${\mathrm{O}}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ ions at zero incident energy. This large additional cross section peak has important consequences for the role of ozone in the anion formation processes in the ionosphere.
