Abstract

Architect and Town Planner, Amitava Deb of the Central Buildng Research Institute, Roorkee, describes the problems of maintaining mass housing in India and concludes that whilst zero maintenance should be an objective, concerted efforts are needed to develop compatible building materials, that will turn the dream into a reality. The paper was presented at the Paris Congress.
