Abstract
El presente trabajo se propone estudiar el influjo de los progymnasmata, en concreto la écfrasis y la sentencia, en las Babiloniacas de Jámblico. Para ello, analizamos los excerpta de la novela a la luz de las pautas ofrecidas por los manuales de retórica escolar. Se destaca el modo en que Jámblico sigue o, por el contrario, reformula las convenciones formales de estos ejercicios preparatorios.
