Abstract

Introduction/aims: This prospective analysis assesses the long-term benefits of all titanium (Ti) temporomandibular joint (TMJ) prosthesis in a single UK tertiary centre. Patients who had replacement with all Ti TMJ prosthesis with 10 or more years follow-up were included. The most common primary diagnoses were trauma, multiple previous operations, rheumatoid arthritis and ankylosis. All Ti prosthesis are used for patients with allergies to one of the component parts of cobalt–chromium alloy present in prosthesis.
