Abstract

In March 2020, the UK went into lockdown due to COVID-19. Hospitals began prioritising emergency work, which had a knock-on effect for student midwives. Ultimately, the decision was made to temporarily suspend placements and offer a paid alternative to provide an additional workforce to the National Health Service (NHS). However, there were many students who were unable to commit to an extended paid placement. This article explores the journey made by three midwifery students from Robert Gordon University (RGU), as they achieved their placement module through a practice-based project.
