Abstract

This paper describes Load frequency control (LFC) of microgrid considering the effect of participation of Doubly-fed induction generator (DFIG). Uncertainty in wind speed causes a significant variation in the output power of DFIG and frequency of the micro grid. Therefore, uncertainty in the wind velocity has been considered in this paper. Speed control mechanism is applied to DFIG in order to smoothen the output power thus frequency. To mitigate the frequency deviation PID controller is used. Newly developed algorithm termed as Mosquito flying optimization (MFO) algorithm applied to tune the gains of the PID controller. The effectiveness of MFO algorithm has been manifested by comparing with crow search algorithm (CSA) and whale optimization algorithm (WOA).
