Abstract

Considering the application of combined heat and power (CHP) systems and distributed generations (DGs) in microgrid, the load frequency control (LFC) is crucial. In this paper, a typical microgrid architecture with CHP system, electric vehicles, controllable load and DGs is proposed. Based on the principle of CHP system, the relationship between thermal load demand and electric power supply is analyzed and the equivalent LFC model is established. Then, the LFC model of the entire microgrid is established and its state-space equation is obtained. The generalized predictive control is used as the load frequency controller algorithm, and the effectiveness and robustness with respect of the changes of the thermal load and the variation of the system parameters are demonstrated, compared with traditional proportion integration (PI) controller.
