Abstract

The theory of linear response of a turbulent plasma for an impinged charged particle is formulated by extending the Pines and Bohm's theory so as to include the effects of correlations among density fluctuations in the turbulent plasma. The turbulence is assumed to be stationary and uniform. The stopping power of the turbulent plasma is given by the linear-respons theory to the impinged charged particle. It is shown that the stopping power is composed of a sum of terms, one of them is that obtained under the random-phase approximation and the other is that included in the effects of the density correlations.
