Abstract

THE last report on the field investigation of natural lightning on the 132-kv transmission system of the American Gas and Electric Company was presented in a paper by the authors in 1942. <sup xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">1</sup> Since that time the field research work has been continued, although not as extensively as in the past, the major project being centered around lightning conditions at and close to the stations themselves, with a smaller part of the work being done on the line to determine the relative effectiveness of counterpoises and ground rods.
