Abstract

The scientific article presents the scientific rationale for implementing the method of developing the speed and strength abilities of 10th – 11th grade students using judo in the extracurricular educational and training process. It has been proven that the above-mentioned technique contributes to the positive assimilation of theoretical material on judo, activates the interest of students in physical education and sports activities. The purpose of the study is to investigate the level of theoretical training of 10 – 11 grade students in the process of implementing the methodology of developing speed and strength abilities using judo. The following research methods were used to solve the tasks in the research: study and generalization of data from scientific and methodical literature, questionnaires, observations, conversations, methods of mathematical statistics. The article described the questionnaire for determining the level of theoretical knowledge, which was developed according to three levels of complexity in accordance with the author's methodology for the development of speed and strength abilities of students of grades 10 – 11, which became a novelty of the study. In the article, a comparative analysis of the level of theoretical knowledge among students of the experimental group was carried out.
Without deep knowledge of judo, it is impossible to achieve high results in sports activities. Since the low level of theoretical training leads to the fact that the judoka student does not fully understand the task that the coach sets before him during training sessions. Misunderstanding contributes to the appearance of passivity in the training process, leads to the incorrect execution of technical and tactical actions or special judo exercises. The lack of activity and participation of the student-judoka in the educational and training process breaks the «trainer-student» relationship, which significantly contributes to the reduction of the effectiveness of the educational and training process. Theoretical training is aimed at students' acquisition of specific knowledge of judo, as well as at increasing their intellectual and theoretical level, which contributes to athletic growth in the chosen sport. After all, during educational and training sessions, the coach connects specific tasks and exercises with certain theoretical information. This helps to stimulate the desire of judo students to make their own conclusions and make decisions in practice, as well as to analyze and understand their actions in the process of educational and training and sports activities, etc.
