Abstract
This work is a cut of the dissertation of a master's degree in letters, at the University of Mato Grosso State (UNEMAT), Sinop university campus. The article analyzed how the mobilizations of critical literacy are promoted, in the context of the Reference Center for Social Assistance (CRAS), North Mato Grosso Amazon, and how they promote the development of critical consciousness of people in vulnerable situations, especially the elderly groups. The methodology used was qualitative research of an ethnographic nature. The study was based on the theoretical perspective of Critical Literacy (LC) under the approach of Critical Applied Linguistics (LAC). The data pointed out that the criticality in the elderly groups is constituted in informal conversation processes whose reflection sentences are short and quick. However, the categories of analyses showed that this theory requires, therefore, active behavior in and with the world.
