Abstract

The present article is the synthesis of research conducted in the educational context of Crateus and the Sertao dos Inhamuns in Ceara, Brazil. It reports situations of LGBTphobia in order to highlight mechanisms of production and reproduction of violence in various contexts and situations, thus highlighting the structural character. The study was based on the theoretical framework of Butler (2003), Preciado (2002), Foucault (2017) and Louro (1997; 2004), in relation to the study of gender and sexuality, as well as the production of mechanisms and discourses of power. Interviews were conducted with people from the LGBT+ community in the region. We conclude that the different situations of LGBTphobia experienced by people from this community, in the educational context, point to the possibility of making the issue visible, and points to the need for the continued training of educational professionals in the areas of gender and sexuality.
